BUDGET WORK SESSION

GLYNN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

Discussion and consideration of voting on the following:

 

1.            The FY 19 proposed budget

 

County Manager Alan Ours reported that the proposed budget continues the current level of service provided by the county, does not recommend the addition of new employees, follows the strategic plan, is a balanced budget, does not use fund balance, continues to invest in employees, maintains the current millage rate, invests in capital, includes $200,000 to update county development ordinances in support of the 2018 Comprehensive Plan, and increases the Board of Assessor pay by $100 per month. The Commissioners discussed the pay rates of the various advisory boards.

In an effort to aid Code Enforcement Officers, Animal Control Officers, and County Police Officers in Magistrate Court, Judge Alex Atwood reached out to Solicitor General Maria Lugue regarding the possibility of providing legal assistance to them. In order to handle the increase in workload, Ms. Lugue has requested an additional $45,000 to provide these services. Commissioners discussed the possibility of adding an additional attorney in the County Attorney’s office to assist with these cases in lieu of the Solicitor General.

Tonya Miller, Administrative Services Director and CFO, presented the revised budget amounts for the following items:

Commissioner Stambaugh recommended that the Board consider asking all the departments to go back and cut 1% of their proposed budget to add back to the Fund Balance.

The Board did not hold an executive session during this meeting.
