1.†††††††† Discussion and consideration of voting on items related to the FY 18 proposed budget

 

††††††††††††††††††††††† Commissioner Stambaugh proposed revisions to the FY18 budget that included reducing the Capital Projects Fund, decreasing the contribution to the Glynn-Brunswick Development Authority, using the Accommodation Excise Tax to fund the Recreation Departmentís budget, closing the Wellness Center, and not funding the newly requested positions. The proposal reduced the budget by $5.3 million and would require only a 0.804 millage increase rather than the proposed 2 mill increase.

††††††††††††††††††††††† Members of the Development Authority and Chamber and Visitors Bureau addressed the Board regarding its funding.

 

††††††††††† A motion was made by Commissioner Stambaugh to reallocate the funds as presented. The motion did not receive a second.

 

††††††††††††††††††††††† Commissioner Booker inquired about the part-time position he had requested for the Coastal African American Historic Preservation Commission (CAAHPC). Cheryl Hargrove, Coastal Tourism Project Manager with the Georgia Department of Economic Development, spoke regarding her departmentís efforts to increase tourism surrounding the African-American heritage.

The Board did not hold an executive session during this meeting.
