COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

PUBLIC HEARING – Alcoholic Beverage License

 

1.         Consider the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Quick Stop 2, 6131 New Jesup Hwy, Brunswick, GA. The license is to sell malt beverages and wine not for consumption on premises of a convenience store. Sunday Sales permitted. Dharmendra Patel, licensee. (Occupation Tax/Chief Doering) REPORT

 

Dharmendra Patel, licensee, was present at the meeting as required by ordinance. Assistant Police Chief Scott Trautz said the applicant met the requirements for consideration of issuance of the license. This item was opened for public comment, yet no one addressed the Board.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Booker to approve the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Quick Stop 2. The motion carried unanimously.

 

2.         Consider the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Bubba Jax Crab Shack, 290 Frontage Road Brunswick, GA. The license is to sell distilled spirits, malt beverages and wine for consumption on premises of a restaurant. Sunday Sales permitted. Aaron Gibson, licensee. (Occupation Tax/Chief Doering) REPORT

 

Aaron Gibson, licensee, was present at the meeting as required by ordinance. Assistant Police Chief Scott Trautz said the applicant met the requirements for consideration of issuance of the license. This item was opened for public comment, yet no one addressed the Board.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Booker to approve the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Bubba Jax Crab Shack. The motion carried unanimously.

 

3.         Consider the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Mellow Mushroom, 440 Kings Way, St Simons Island, GA. The license is to sell distilled spirits, malt beverages and wine for consumption on premises of a restaurant. Sunday Sales permitted. C. Saxby Chambless, Jr., licensee. (Occupation Tax/Chief Doering) REPORT

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Coleman to defer this item to the Board’s October 16, 2014, meeting. The motion carried unanimously.

 

4.         Consider the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Mr. Pete’s, 5264 New Jesup Hwy, Brunswick, GA. The license is to sell malt beverages and wine not for consumption on premises of a convenience store. Sunday Sales permitted. Jayeshkumart Patel, licensee. (Occupation Tax/Chief Doering) REPORT

 

Jayeshkumart Patel, licensee, was present at the meeting as required by ordinance. Assistant Police Chief Scott Trautz said the applicant met the requirements for consideration of issuance of the license. This item was opened for public comment, yet no one addressed the Board.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Booker to approve the issuance of a 2014 alcoholic beverage license to Mr. Pete’s. The motion carried unanimously.

 

CONSENT AGENDA – General Business

5.         Approved the minutes of the regular meeting held September 18, 2014, subject to any necessary corrections. (C. Overstreet)

 

6.         Approved the Programming Agreement between Golden Isles Productions, LLC. and Glynn County to allow access to Glynn County’s Educational and Government (EG) Channel (Channel 99) for broadcasting programming approved by County staff. (J. Catron) REPORT

 

7.         Approved the appraised values of all properties involved in the exchange of property necessary for the new development on Canal Road to move forward and authorized staff to proceed with publication of a notice of the exchange and place on an upcoming agenda for consideration. (D. Hainley) REPORT

 

8.         Approved the Memorandum of Agreement by and between the Glynn County Tax Commissioner, the City of Brunswick, and Glynn County Regarding the Billing and Collection of City Ad Valorem Property Taxes and Solid Waste Collection Fees. (A. Ours) REPORT

 

9.         Received the annual flood mitigation report documenting the progress made to enforce the provisions of the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. This report is required by the annual Community Rating System Review which determines the flood insurance rating. (D Hainley) REPORT

 

10.       Approved the Memorandum of Understanding/Inspection Agreement between Glynn County and the Jekyll Island Authority for the County to provide inspection services for the construction of the new Youth & Learning Center. (D. Hainley) REPORT

 

11.       Recognized the 30 year Aeronautical Sublease Agreement between the Brunswick and Glynn County Development Authority and Lance Toland for approximately 10,957 square feet of property at McKinnon St. Simons Airport. (A. Ours) REPORT

 

12.       Approved the resolution of intent requesting that the Brunswick and Glynn County Development Authority issue its revenue bonds in an aggregate principal amount not to exceed $8,000,000 on the behalf of Glynn County for the purpose of financing energy conservation improvements. REPORT Resolution #R-35-14

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Provenzano to approve all items on the consent agenda. The motion carried unanimously.

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION/POST EXECUTIVE SESSION ACTION

 

The Board did not hold an executive session during this meeting.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:06 p.m.
