SPECIAL CALLED MEETING

GLYNN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

701 “G” STREET, 2ND FLOOR, COMMISSIONERS’ MEETING CHAMBERS

TUESDAY, JULY 29, 2014 AT 5:30 PM

 

PRESENT:                     Michael Browning, Chairman, District 1

Bob Coleman, Vice Chairman, At Large Post 2

Dale Provenzano, Commissioner, District 2

Richard Strickland, Commissioner, District 3

Mary Hunt, Commissioner, District 4

Allen Booker, Commissioner, District 5

Clyde Taylor, Commissioner, At Large Post 1

 

ALSO PRESENT:           Alan Ours, County Administrator

Aaron Mumford, County Attorney

Cindee Overstreet, County Clerk

 

Discussion and consideration of the following:

 

1.         Receive citizen comments regarding proposed 2014 Millage Rates

                       

The public hearing was offered, yet no one spoke regarding the proposed rates.

 

2.         Consider adopting the 2014 Millage Rates for Glynn County.

 

            A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Hunt to approve the adoption of a resolution approving the 2014 Millage Rates for Glynn County. The motion carried unanimously; however Commissioner Coleman was absent at the time of vote.  Resolution #R-28-14

 

3.         Accept the Board of Education’s 2014 Millage Rates as required.  

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Taylor and seconded by Commissioner Booker approve the adoption of a resolution accepting of the Board of Education’s 2014 Millage Rates. The motion carried 5-1 with Commissioner Hunt opposed and Commissioner Coleman absent at the time of vote. Resolution #R-29-14

 

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Provenzano to adjourn to executive session to discuss personnel matters. The motion carried 6-0 with Commissioner Coleman absent at the time of vote.

 

Commissioner Coleman arrived at the meeting.

 

Back in Session

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Hunt to adjourn executive session and enter regular session. The motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Strickland and seconded by Commissioner Booker to eliminate the salary ranges for the County Administrator, County Attorney, and Police Chief established by the Board of Commissioners in 2005. The motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Hunt and seconded by Commissioner Booker to increase the County Administrator’s salary to $152,000, effective August 9, 2014. The motion carried unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Hunt and seconded by Commissioner Strickland to increase the County Attorney’s salary to $110,000, effective July 1, 2014. The motion carried unanimously.

 

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
