Discussion and consideration of the following:
1. Presentation by Linda Orel with Trust for Public Land
Ms. Orel asked the Board to approve a letter requesting the Trust for Public Land conduct a feasibility study to determine the public’s priorities and attitudes regarding land conservation in Glynn County. The letter would allow the Trust for Public Land to apply for a grant to conduct the study.
It was the consensus of the Board to place this item on the June 5, 2014, regular meeting agenda for consideration.
2. Discussion regarding the I/J Block
County Administrator Alan Ours reported the abandonment of the alleys in the I/J Block was discussed at the City of Brunswick’s May meeting, but the City did not approve deeding the alleys to the County to allow for the parking lot and veterans’ memorial to be built.
He said he recently received an email from the City Manager asking that the County submit a formal request to the City for the abandonment of the alleyways. The request included a specific design of the parking area and memorial, and a plat showing the alleyways.
It was the consensus of the Board to send the City of Brunswick a conceptual drawing of the proposed plans for the block.
3. Discussion regarding the proposed Door-to-Door Commercial Solicitation Ordinance (R. Strickland)
County Attorney Aaron Mumford presented the draft ordinance. Commissioners reviewed the draft ordinance, asked questions, and made recommendations for changes. Mr. Mumford said he would present the final version at an upcoming meeting.
The Board did not hold an executive session during this meeting.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
