Discussion and consideration of the following:

 

1.†††††††† Receive a report regarding the Howard Coffin Park from Mayor Harvey

 

††††††††††† ††††††††††† Mayor Harvey expressed an interest in the City taking back the operations and maintenance of the Howard Coffin Park. The park was turned over to the county during the 2012 LOST negotiations.

††††††††††††††††††††††† It was decided that Commissioner Strickland, Commissioner Hunt, and Commissioner Taylor would meet with representatives of the City to discuss the return of the park to the City of Brunswick.

 

2.†††††††† Discuss the proposed uses of the I/J Block

 

††††††††††† ††††††††††† County Administrator Alan Ours and Community Development Director David Hainley presented a site survey showing the parking area and veteransí memorial that is planned for the site.

††††††††††† ††††††††††† Commissioner Hunt asked Mayor Harvey if the alleys in the I/J Block would be deeded to County so the parking and memorial could be built. Mayor Harvey said yes. Commissioner Hunt then asked if it would be used as part of any negotiations for the return of the Howard Coffin Park. Mayor Harvey said no.

††††††††††††††††††††††† Mayor Harvey said he would talk with the City Manager and City Attorney to determine how to accomplish the abandonment of the alleys. He said he would place the matter on the agenda of the City Commissionís first meeting in May.

 

3.†††††††† Discuss the Glynn County Animal Services Division and Advisory Board.

 

Advisory Board Chairman Jill Wright and Vice Chairman Ashby Nix presented their concerns related to the Animal Services Division and the Advisory Board.

 

4.†††††††† Receive an update from the Brunswick-Glynn County Development Authority

 

††††††††††† ††††††††††† Executive Director Chuck Scraggs provided the update.

The Board did not hold an executive session during this meeting.
