Discussion and consideration of the following:

1.         Renegotiation proceedings with the City of Brunswick for the distribution of the Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) proceeds.

After the City’s LOST consultant, Phil Sutton, of Sutton Consulting LLC, and the County’s LOST consultant, Doug Eaves, of Eaves Consulting Group, LLC, provided presentations, the Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem, and the City Manager left the room to decide whether or not the City wanted to continue negotiations in a smaller group of closed meetings or move straight to mediation.

Upon their return, the Mayor suggested he, on behalf of the City, and the Chairman, on behalf of the County, appoint other commissioners and staff to serve on small teams to negotiate. Then, if those teams are not successful, they would move forward to mediation.

Chairman Strickland told the City that the County was willing to phase in the change in distribution over three years.
