INVOCATION AND PLEDGE       

 

PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD - No requests were received during the sign up period. Therefore, no public comments were heard by the Board of Commissioners during the scheduled Public Comment Period.

 

 

COMMISSION PRESENTATIONS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

1.         Presented a proclamation designating May 13 through May 19, 2012, as Police Week and May 15, 2012, as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day in Glynn County. (R. Strickland)  Link

PUBLIC HEARING – Land Use

 

3.         ZM2337 (M) Reserve Phase II  - Consider a request to rezone from PD (Planned Development) to MR (Medium Residential) 4.25 acres described as the eastern portion of Peppertree Crossing Phase II. The property has 103 feet of frontage on Altama Avenue. The purpose of the request is to expand an adjacent multi-family development. Parcel Numbers 03-22920,  03-22921,  03-22922,  03-22923,  03-22924,  03-22925,  03-22926,  03-22927,  03-22928,  03-22929,  03-22930,  03-22931,  03-22932,  03-22933,  03-22934,  03-22935,  03-22936,  03-22937,  03-22953,  03-22954,  03-22955,  03-00917 and a portion of   03-16721,  03-22938,  03-22901. J R Wright, owner. (D Hainley)  This item was deferred from the Board’s April 5, 2012, meeting; however, the applicant has withdrawn the request. This item will not be heard.     Link

 

                        The applicant requested this item be withdrawn.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Sublett and seconded by Commissioner Hunt to accept the request for withdrawal of the application. The motion carried unanimously.

 

 

CONSENT AGENDA – General Business

 

4.         Approved the minutes of the regular meeting held April 19, 2012, and the special called meetings held April 17, 2012, and April 24, 2012, subject to any necessary corrections.  (C. Overstreet)

 

5.         Approved an Acknowledgment and Release regarding the property used by Open 4 Business Productions, LLC for the filming of “Royal Pains.” (R. Strickland)  Link

 

6.         Acknowledged and accepted the termination of the contract to serve as coordinator of, and case manager for, the KidsNet Glynn System of Care between Glynn County and Atlantic Family Solutions, LLC. (Judge Rountree, Juvenile Court)  Link

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Hunt and seconded by Commissioner Clark to approve all items on the consent agenda. The motion carried unanimously.

 

GENERAL BUSINESS

 

7.         Consider an amendment to the Glynn County Code of Ordinances Chapter 2-13, Sections 2-13-43, 2-13-44, 2-13-45, and 2-13-46 to amend the Road Abandonment Ordinance. (D. Hainley)  Link

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Hunt and seconded by Commissioner Sublett to adopt the ordinance amendment. The motion carried unanimously. Ordinance #O-2012-02

 

8.         Consider an amendment to 2-4-3(c), 2-4-5(d), and 2-4-5(k) of the Glynn County Code of Ordinances, Glynn County, Georgia, to revise the definition of Dogs Running At Large, to revise the provisions pertaining to dogs, cats, and horses on the public beaches of St. Simons, and for other purposes. This ordinance prohibits any dogs or cats from being on the public beaches of St. Simons Island between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day.  At all other times, dogs and cats must be either on a leash or in close proximity of the handler and obedient to that person’s commands. The ordinance does not allow horses on the beach.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Taylor and seconded by Commissioner Hunt to adopt the ordinance amendment. The motion carried unanimously. Ordinance #O-2012-03

 

 

EXECUTIVE SESSION

 

The Board did not hold an executive session during this meeting.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
