INVOCATION by Milton Lynn
CONSIDER AWARD OF SOLID WASTE SERVICES CONTRACT
Motion by Commissioner Tullos, seconded by Commissioner Strickland, to award the contract to Southland Environmental Services, Inc.
Commissioner Miller stated that he would like to hear from the BFI people and their attorney, since there were present. Commissioner Miller asked the Chairman if he had received a copy of the letter from BFI's attorneys. Chairman Lynn replied that he had.
Motion by Commissioner Tullos, seconded by Commissioner Strickland, to call the question.
Chairman Lynn asked the County Attorney what was the proper procedure, since the question had been called. Mr. Moore replied that the Chairman could either hear from the BFI people or call for a vote.
Chairman Lynn asked if it would better to not discuss the letter from BFI's attorneys, since it was regarding potential litigation. The County Attorney responded that it would probably be better to not discuss it at this time.
Chairman Lynn called for a vote.
Motion by Commissioner Tullos, seconded by Commissioner Strickland, to award the contract to Southland Environmental Services, Inc. Motion passed 4-2, Commissioner Lyde and Commissioner Miller opposed.
Commissioner Miller asked the County Attorney if it was in order for Commissioner Tullos to make a motion to call the question, since he made the original motion to award the contract. The County Attorney answered that he wasn't sure. Commissioner Miller asked the County Attorney to look into this, because he was sure Mr. Moore would find he was right again.
Motion by Commissioner Strickland to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Commissioner Tullos. Motion passed 4-0-0, Commissioner Lyde and Commissioner Miller did not vote.
