report regarding Hurricane Floyd.
Mr. Abel gave an update on the position and projected heading of Hurricane Floyd. The following recommendations were made by Mr. Abel relative to evacuation of residents.
$ A mandatory evacuation of Zone 1 would go into effect at 12:00 noon.
$ A voluntary evacuation of Zone 2 would go into effect at the same time.
$ The F. J. Torras Causeway would be closed at 3:00 PM..
$ All County offices would close for business at 12:00 noon. Staff directed to monitor local media for return to work date and time.
A motion was made by Commissioner Dowdy, seconded by Commissioner Tommy Clark to reschedule the Board=s meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday, September 16, 1999 at 6:00 PM to Thursday, September 23, 1999 at 6:00PM. Motion carries with a vote of 6-0 with Commissioner Jerome Clark absent.

relative to evacuation of citizens.
Motion carries with a vote of 6-0 with Commissioner Jerome Clark absent.
Sheriff Bennett stated he would be petitioning the Superior Court Judges to issue a curfew effective 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM for the entire County.
