BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

GLYNN COUNTY, GEORGIA

HELD AT THE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICE MONDAY SEPTEMBER 13, 1999

Status report regarding Hurricane Floyd.

 

Mr. Abel gave an update as to the position and likely landfall of Hurricane Floyd.  Mr. Abel recommended a voluntary evacuation of Zone 1 beginning at 6:00 PM.  Zone 1 consist of Blythe Island, St. Simons Island, South Brunswick, area East of Highway 17.  It was also recommended that nursing homes and assisted living facilities begin preparing for evacuation.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Woodman, seconded by Commissioner Tommy Clark to declare a state of emergency, effective immediately.  Motion carries with a vote of 5-0 with Commissioner Dowdy and Commissioner Jerome Clark absent.

 

It was the consensus of the Board to hold another Special Meeting Tuesday, September 14, 1999 at 8:00 AM in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of the Harold Pate building.

 

There being no further business, meeting adjourned.
