INVOCATION & PLEDGE

 

1.                  Report from HB 489 Committee.

 

The Board heard from the following person(s):

 

Mr. Ronnie Perry, HB 489 Committee Chairman

Mr. Ken Tollison

Susan Hamar (sp)


 

After brief discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Dowdy, seconded by Commissioner Tommy Clark to accept the committees report and give each committee a letter of thanks for their participation.  Unanimously approved.   It was the consensus of the City Commission to accept the committee report.

 

After further discussion a motion was made by Chairperson Robertson (Mayor Brad Brown) seconded by Commissioner Dowdy to look into the hiring of an outside agency to conduct a study regarding the monetary impact relative to the consolidating of certain services. 

 

After further discussion Commissioner Dowdy added the amendment of imposing a specific dollar amount, agreed upon by both governing authorities.  (Chairperson Robertson ) Mayor Brown agreed to Commissioner Dowdy amendment.

 

Vote regarding the amendment to the above referenced motion passed by receiving a unanimouslvote.     It was the consensus of the City Commission to accept the aforementioned motion.

2.        Other issues on House Bill 489.

 

Amendment and/or correction to the HB 489 Service Delivery Strategy Agreement.

 

After brief discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Jerome Clark, seconded by Commissioner Dowdy to send the 20 items listed on page one (1) to DCA as requested.  Unanimously approved.

 

3.                  Automatic Aid Agreement between the Glynn County and City of Brunswick Fire Departments

 

After brief discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Dowdy, seconded by Commissioner Woodman to accept the Automatic Aid Agreement as presented by the Fire Chief=s with the City and County Attorney=s drawing up the actual agreement documents for execution.  Unanimously approved.  It was the consensus of the City Commission to accept the aforementioned motion 

 

 

 


 

4.                  Sales Tax Distribution (LOST & SPLOST) Reports.

 

After brief discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Dowdy, seconded by Chairperson Robertson (Mayor Brad Brown) to set a specific deadline for negotiations regarding all , LOST and SPLOST, water rates, and equalization issues at the next joint quarterly meeting (October 5, 1999.)  Unanimously approved. It was the consensus of the City Commission to accept the aforementioned motion 

 

5.                Other issues.

 

A.        Problems related to the hiring of City police officers by Glynn County.

 

Informational purposes only.  No action required by either Board at this time.

 

A motion was made by Commissioner Dowdy, seconded by Commissioner Tullos to adjourn.  Unanimously approved.
