JOINT MEETING BETWEEN

GLYNN COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

AND

CITY OF BRUNSWICK

HELD TUESDAY, MAY 4, 1999

INVOCATION & PLEDGE

 

1.                  Equalization of Water Rates

 

Brief discussion.  No action required nor taken at this time.

 

2.                  Mayor=s report from property taxes and dual taxation.

3.                Report from City and County Attorneys on House Bill 489.

After further discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Jerome Clark, seconded by Commissioner Tullos to establish the provision of quarterly joint City/County meetings, the  1st Tuesday of each quarter to begin at 5:00 pm.  Motion carries with a vote of 6-0 with Commissioner Tommy Clark absent.  It was the consensus of the City to meet on a quarterly basis.         

 

4.                Other issues on House Bill 489.

5.                Sunset of SPLOST Funds.

 

Discussion regarding removing the monetary cap on SPLOST  funds allocated to the City and any possible options relative to amending the current SPLOST III contract.

6.                  Beverly Shores Property/I-95 Water Tower Site.

 

After brief discussion a motion was made by Commissioner Tullos, seconded by Commissioner Jerome Clark to sell 1.25 acres of land near Glyndale Elementary to the City of Brunswick for $1.00 for the purpose of installation of an over head water storage tank facility in the I-95 area.

 

After further discussion it was decided that the respective Board would discuss and address this issue in their separate Board meetings.

 

7.                Other issues.

 

After brief discussion a motion was made by Chairperson Robertson, seconded by (Commissioner Lawrence) Commissioner Dowdy that each Commission adopt the proposed service strategies agreement at their respective meeting May 19th for the City of Brunswick and May 20th for the Glynn County Board of Commissioners.  Motion carries with a vote of 6-0 with Commissioner Tommy Clark absent.

 

There being no further business, a motion was made by (Commissioner Lawrence) Commissioner Dowdy , seconded by Commissioner Jerome Clark to adjourn.  Motion carries with a vote of 6-0 with Commissioner Tommy Clark absent.
