1.            Sixth Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST 6)

 

The City of Brunswick presented its proposed SPLOST 6 list as follows:

City Police Department                                                                                  $1,730,000

Project 1:          15 fully equipped marked cars with mobile radios                $700,000

Project 2:          4 fully equipped unmarked SUVs                                            $210,000

Project 3:          6 fully equipped unmarked vehicles in CID & GBNET            $300,000

Project 4:          Improvements to Police facility, 206 Mansfield St                $500,000

Project 5:          Purchase SMART Board computer for training                      $  20,000

 

City Fire Department                                                                                      $1,700,000

Project 1:          40 SCBAs                                                                                 $190,000

Project 2:          5 Rapid Intervention Packs                                                     $  22,000

Project 3:          40 sets of turn out gear                                                          $130,000

Project 4:          Order several spare parts for turn out gear                          $  20,000

Project 5:          4 positive pressure ventilators                                               $   10,000

Project 6:          5 chainsaws                                                                             $     3,000

Project 7:          Replace all hose and adapters, supply and attack lines         $ 125,000

Project 8:          1 Quint Fire Truck (taken out of SPLOST 5)                            $ 650,000

Project 2:          Milling & paving of various street                                          $6,500,000

Project 3:          Storm Drainage Improvements                                              $4,500,000

Project 4:          Wide Format Scanner                                                             $     30,000

 

Mayor Thompson said the Ritz Theater renovations project would be reduced significantly. It was decided the City Commission and staff would review this list and prioritize it and try to make reductions where possible, just as the County had done in its two previous special called meetings held February 15, 2011, and March 15, 2011.
