Assistant County Manager


The Assistant County Manager provides management oversight of the Recreation and Parks Department, Animal Control Division, and Public Information Office.  She also provides management assistance to the County Manager and serves as the interim management of various County departments as needed.  In the absence of the County Manager, she acts on his behalf and performs the duties that are required of his position as such the Assistant County Manager position is subject to the approval of the Board of Commissioners.

The Assistant County Manager consults with the County Manager and other officials to review operations and activities, review and resolve problems, and provide recommendations.  She assists with the development and implementation of long range and short term plans, goals, and objectives.  She also prepares and presents briefings and concepts as directed by the County Manager. 



Professional Experience: 

Kathryn has worked at the local, state, and federal levels of government.  She began her career in government working at the Georgia General Assembly and then as a Planner with the Coastal Regional Commission.  Prior to her employment with Glynn County, she served as a Regional Representative for U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss.  She was hired as the Glynn County Management Analyst/Public Information Officer in 2014 and was promoted to her role as Assistant County Manager in 2018.

Civic and Community Service: 

Kathryn is a member of the 2019 Class of Leadership Georgia, Brunswick Rotary Club, International City/County Management Association, and Junior League.  She is also serving as an intern on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Coastal Georgia.  She is a graduate of Leadership Southeast Georgia (2016) and Leadership Glynn (2008).

Education:

 Kathryn holds a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, both from the University of Georgia.

Personal:

 Kathryn and her husband, Jared, reside on St. Simons Island with their two daughters and are members of Wesley United Methodist Church.
