Recreation and Parks

The Glynn County Recreation and Parks Department works to enhance the lives of citizens and visitors by providing year-round recreational activities for all ages. The department also manages the beautification of our public parks, including the beaches of St. Simons Island, and numerous facilities.

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Recreation and Parks Department is to provide quality year-round recreational activities, facilities and services that are safe, fun and enhance the quality of life for all.


What's Happening


  • 2019 Spring/Summer Activities
  • Adult Spring/Summer Sports
  • Spring Break Movie at Howard Coffin Park Gym.  Showing Smallfoot at 6:00 p.m. in the gym.  Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. $1.00 per person.
  •  American Red Cross Babysitters course.  Boys and girls age 11-14. Saturday, February 9.  Pre-register and more details when you go to the Online Registration link.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding course.  Ages 15 and up.  Held over Spring Break, April 1-5 at Howard Coffin Pool.  Pre-registration required by following the Online Registration link.
  • Adult Tai Chi and Active Adult Fitness.  Held on Wednesday (Fitness) or Friday (Tai Chi) at Ballard Gym at 11:00 a.m.  For more information or to register follow the Online Registration link.
