Natural Disasters

Earthquake

Natural disasters may occur at any time of the year. Geographical locations and the seasons, determine to which types of disasters an area is susceptible. Hurricanes are localized events in that they normally occur only along the Atlantic and Gulf coastal areas. Earthquakes are also considered localized events. The southern parts of our country don't usually have snow, ice, or winter storms. The remaining events can and do occur in all parts of the country. Do not listen to rumors concerning any type of disaster, evacuations, or instructions concerning any of these. Always listen to the official information that is given through official channels. Check the Information Link to learn where those official sources are located.
