Internships Available
Internships are available in the following departments for the upcoming academic semesters (Fall, Spring, & Summer). Please check back continuously, as new positions become available.
Information Technology – Geographic Information Systems Division
The intern in this department will be to develop a workflow and methodology for correctly digitizing all impervious surfaces in Glynn County. The intern would also be exposed to all introductory levels of GIS participating in GPS field work along with entry level technical work.

Public Information Office Intern
The PIO Intern will assist in County government campaigns and major projects. The intern will be expected to draft basic public relations materials such as news releases, media alerts, and fact sheets. Attend and participate in management meetings, presentations and work sessions. Update daily media clips & maintain archive system. Assist in the design of outreach materials including brochures, website, videos and presentations. Assist the Public Information Officer with administrative duties, such as responding to citizen & media inquiries via phone/email, faxing, filing, folding brochures and preparing media packets. May occasionally engage in public speaking.

Public Works – Drainage Division
The intern in this department will develop and implement a comprehensive drainage infrastructure inventory and maintenance schedule to assist the department in NPDES compliance. The infrastructure inventory and maintenance schedule will be directed toward completing a countywide storm water management plan and developing a departmental SOP. The intern will work with the GIS and Engineering Services Departments and be exposed to many critical job related aspects within the civil and environmental engineering professions that will broaden their experiences.

Public Works - Right-of-Way Maintenance Division
The intern in this department will develop and implement a pavement surface assessment program or methodology to objectively grade or rank paved roadway segments in terms of need of maintenance. These programs will be used to establish a systematic roadway maintenance schedule and will be used to determine resurfacing priorities. The intern will receive experience in the civil engineering profession that will facilitate resume building.

Public Works - Mosquito Control Intern
The intern will be responsible for reading and learning about the life cycle of mosquitoes and conducting research within our books and online to find innovative ways of capturing mosquitoes at different stages in their life cycle, then implement these methods, and compare with our present methods. He/she will evaluate environmental conditions within the water in which they live, such as temperature, volume, salt content and pH. They may also assist the manager and lab technician in bioassays using very small amounts of our larvacides under lab conditions to evaluate efficacy. The intern will also learn to identify adult and larval mosquitoes.
