Subject:  Wingfield Commons Homeowners Association, Street Lighting Program

 

BACKGROUND:

 

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners approved a policy that allows neighborhood associations to participate in the County’s neighborhood street lighting program.  The policy requires that the homeowners association complete the following requirements:

 

a.      Request in writing that the association be allowed to participate in the Glynn County Street Lighting Program.  The Wingfield Commons Homeowners Association did so on August 25, 2008.   A copy of the request is attached.

b.      Submit a map showing the lights to be covered by the agreement and the amount of wattage for each light.  The map is included as Exhibit A.

c.      Submit three signed copies of the Neighborhood Streetlight Service Agreement.  The contract must be signed by the president or a representative of the neighborhood association.  The signed contracts have been provided to the Clerk.

 

The Wingfield Commons Homeowners Association has completed all of the requirements necessary to participate in this program.

 

ALTERNATIVES:

 

1.      Approve the request for the Wingfield Commons Homeowners Association to participate in the County’s Street Lighting Program.

 

2.      Deny the request for the Wingfield Commons Homeowners Association to participate in the County’s Street Lighting program.

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends Alternate 1.

 

 

FUNDING SOURCE:

No tax funds or other public revenues are involved in this program.  The Homeowners Association continues to pay the street light bill, but at the reduced rate Georgia Power provides to Glynn County.

 

 

RECOMMENDED MOTION FOR THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS:

I make a motion that the Wingfield Commons Homeowners Association be allowed to participate in the Glynn County Street Lighting Program.
